buffer was designed to tamper down any digital “hash”, but what they’re really
great for is impedance mismatches. With an input impedance of 470 KOhms and an
output impedance of only 33 Ohms you can insert it between a passive preamp and
just about any amplifier out there and not worry about frequency roll off. It
also works very well between a preamp and subwoofer. Using a dual output preamp
to any 10 KOhm sub and your high input impedance amp is now less than 10K
because of the parallel nature of the hookup. So putting this only between the
pre and sub while directly wiring the pre to your amp will allow for near
original impedance matching and give you the added benefit of a subwoofer. Just
leave it powered on (it’s supposed to be left on) and no warm-up is needed. I
don’t have the original box, but I will of course pack it well.
