  • THIS AUCTION IS OPEN TO BIDDERS IN THE US AND CANADA.
  • IF YOU DO NOT LIVE IN THE US OR CANADA PLEASE DO NOT BID.
  • THANK YOU.

We’re Stereo Exchange, located in New York City. We’ve been in business since the 1970s and are a major high-end dealer. We have all the current top brands on display in our huge showroom.

This tuner was a trade in. It is in very fine condition; I can’t find any significant blemishes on it.

  • We have the original box and packing for it.

It offers BOTH superior reception of hard-to-get stations and fantastic sound quality on great broadcasts…the best of both worlds.

The bass response you get from a good broadcast, over this tuner, will stun you.

Compared with lesser tuners (which is almost all of them) it sounds like someone installed a great subwoofer in your listening room while you were away.

This is NOT a digital tuner. Digital tuners can’t be fine-tuned to move slightly away from interference on the dial.

This is actually a fully ANALOG tuner with a digital frequency readout so you know where you are on the dial…an audiophile’s dream tuner.

This tuner has a meter to show you the strength of the station, and another one to show how well you are tuned to the center of the station.

The third one shows the QUALITY of the signal.

If a station’s signal is bouncing off of a structure (building, mountain) on the way to you, your antenna will receiver TWO signals…one reflected, and one direct, delayed in time from each other.

The audio equivalent of “ghosting” on TVs, this causes high frequency noise and distortion.

If you have a movable antenna, the MULTIPATH meter on this tuner will allow you to rotate your antenna to minimize the multipath for cleaner sound.

There is a nice, smooth knob to manually tune, continuously, NOT in steps.

This tuner also has BLEND, a great feature.

When receiving a less-than-perfect station, noise can always be reduced by switching no mono, but who wants to listen to mono?

The BLEND feature on this tuner turns the highs into partial mono to reduce noise, but it keeps all the mids and lows in stereo.

Selectivity is the ability of a tuner to clearly differentiate between stations that are close to each other on the dial…for reception in a crowded band, the more the better.

The problem is that high selectivity means higher distortion.

The FT101A has two selectivity positions.

In the NARROW mode, the sound is very good and the tuner can pick up stations very close to each other on the dial without interference.

In the WIDE position, the selectivity reduces, but the sound quality becomes amazingly good.

This tuner has enough selectivity, even in WIDE to use this better-sounding setting most of the time, but enough selectivity in NARROW for a super-crowded dial.

It’s the best of both worlds.

On the rear panel are TWO sets of outputs, with differing output level. Use the one that makes your tuner volume closest to that of your most-used source, like your CD player, so the volume stays more constant when you switch between sources.

If you never believed that FM could sound spectacular through a great tuner, here is your chance to find out that your pre-conceived notions about radio might just be dead wrong!

  • The RESERVE is $268.00.
