Circa 1983 Thorens TD226 for sale. This particular model had all the available features, including the floodlight, push button cueing with end-of-side tonearm lift and rotation shut-off and a vacuum platter/sub platter with the Thorens VG26 vacuum generator.
Two SME 3009 tonearms are installed and included in the sale, as well as the cartridge on each arm. One arm has a Stanton 881s with a Stereohedron stylus and spare elliptical, both of which are genuine Stanton styli. The second tonearm has an Audio-Technica
VM640 mono cartridge. The table has a manual speed control but is designed to maintain a constant speed regardless of the weight on the platter.
Everything works as it should except for the arm with the mono cartridge. Both wires on one channel have come off where the gimbal wires connects to the RCA phono jacks, however this is not a problem because the cart. is internally bridged and one channel carries the mono signal. It would be a simple fix by somebody with steadier hands than mine, and a soldeering iron.
Cosmetically it is in very nice condition with a high gloss finish over mahogany stain. The only flaw is not visible. In the back side of the TT in the plinth's bottom plate, a hole was drilled for cabling, and it is is pretty ragged. However, the only time it can be seen is from behind and at eye level to the table.
The table is 27" x 19" x 9" high with the dustcover, and weighs 45-50lbs

Questions for the seller
Can you determine if this has a steel platter, or is it non-magnetic/compatible with moving coil carts? If a magnet sticks to the platter, I guess that would determine it.
The main platter is aluminum, and the sub platter is an alloy, and I believe it's a zinc-alloy. In any case neither platter is magnetic. Hope this helps.
