ELAC Miracord 50H idler-drive wonder; stunning cabinet

This German made turntable offers exceptional performance and reliability. Built like a tank. Four speeds. Automatic operation. Idler wheel drive. I acquired this turntable from the estate of a local audiophile, and was absolutely astounded by its sound when I hooked it up. It offers the advantages of rim drive tables; quick start-up, and the propulsive drive that brings out the rhythmic intensity and harmonic balance of music. Quite simply, on the basis of sound quality alone, I would put this table up against any table I've heard (including Rega, Thorens, Pro-ject, Music Hall, Denon, Pioneer etc.) that sells for under $1000. And that's with the included well-used but serviceable Shure M91ED cartridge, a solid performer but nothing exotic.

Have I mentioned the cabinet? This table was purchased in Germany, brought back here and stored for most of its life in a closet. When lifted from its box, I was blown away by the teak cabinet housing the turntable. Absolutely gorgeous, and in terrific condition! I have never seen this table (or any other!) in this cabinet - perhaps a German option, unavailable here in the States? Comfortable in any decor, this cabinet will match perfectly with the Danish Modern furniture that is so hot today.

The spindle to stack records for multiple play is included. I have not tested it, as I don't stack records. The original Manual (with blank warranty card), original box, and some packing materials are also included. The adapter for 45s is not included.

This is a great sounding turntable, that is also stunning in appearance. One you can enjoy listening to, and also be proud to display.
