Threshold 400a Class A 100W Stereo Power Amplifier, Beautiful

This is a legendary Threshold 400A Class A Stereo Power
Amplifier in truly excellent condition – arguably the amplifier that made
Nelson Pass famous.  Physically
this unit is in truly fine condition, as you can see in the photos there are no
chips, scratches or dings on it. It looks great from every angle and is likely
as close to new condition as you will find in a unit of this age.  It has only of the tiniest of marks on
it, as you can see in the photos and has none of the purple color change you
see on some older black anodized heatsinks.  Truly a beautiful example.

Electronically and sonically the Threshold 400A functions
flawlessly.  It delivers 100 watts
per channel into 8 ohms and is stable even into very low load impedances.  This classic piece of equipment is still
one of the better sounding amps out there and can drive speakers other
amplifiers have problems with.  It
features power meters that use four vertical rows of LEDs, tow that show peak
levels and two that show average levels taking up a good portion of the large
and attractive front panel display through which you can see the circuitry that
driver it.  The Threshold 400A has
a heavy duty, permanently attached power cord.  It has gold plated RCA inputs, standard spaced dual five-way
binding posts for connection to the speakers, and a fuse for each channel.   

The Threshold 400A will be shipped in its original box and packing.  The buyer will pay the cost of shipping

working condition, but none of the equipment includes any kind of warranty, and
all sales are final.  If you have any questions about a component, or what
is included with it, please ask.  If the ad doesn’t mention a remote or
manual being included, it probably isn’t!  Most of the equipment we sell
on Audiogon and eBay is used – we take a lot of effort to give you accurate
descriptions and provide good photos.  Although most of our trades have
been well cared for, they probably didn’t spend their lives in a vacuum.
