A very rare find. I am the original owner of this, at the time, very unusual product. It utilized a uni-pivot mount, and, instead of traditional wires connecting the arm to the base, four pools of mercury in the based with the four pins making contact from the arm above. The idea worked pretty well but the mercury did become oxidized over time and had to be replaced periodically.
I bought this when I bought my Linn Sondek and Supex cartridge back in the mid 1970's. It still look very good and is perfect for someone who is looking for esoteric products from the past. As far as I know, it should still work perfectly today... assuming you can purchase mercury to put in the four small basins.
I still have the box and mounting hardware as well as the arm lift. Just to keep this item as original as the day I bought it I am also including the separate Supex arm lift that I purchased at that time. It is a very well made device and took the idea of "separates" to a new level back then. One manufacturer for the turntable, one for the tonearm, one for the cartridge, and one for the arm lift. Pretty cool for a 20 year old back in the day!
I am calling this a 7 because it still looks good, should work well, but is older. The Supex arm lift also looks good and works very well.

Questions for the seller |

Wanted to tell you that you can still buy mercury from companies that make carburator syncing tools. I had the same tone arm and it took me awhile to find a legal source for mercury. Hope this helps Thank you for the information. I can remember when every high school chemistry lab had a large bottle on hand but not so any more. I will relay this information on. Thanks again! |
