Quad ESL-988 Electrostatic Solutions Upgraded, Perfect

For sale is 2007 vintage 988s, which have been fully gone over, restored and upgraded by Electrostatic Solutions.

The speakers are in excellent cosmetic shape.  The panels have been replaced and all panels are in new condition.  All the upgrades available for these speakers have been installed by Kent McCollum of ES- super HV power supplies, thin acoustic socks, new internal wiring, Cardas binding posts and main electrolytic cap bypass (with RTX multicaps).  These upgrages make the speaker sound quite spectacular.

Additionally, custom maple stands have been built for them by Maplenation, with constrained layer damping (1/8" Isodamp from Percy Audio) and ceramic DH cones.  The stands put the speaker center at ear level and improve the lower midrange definition.  These great speakers have been very sparsely used in the last year and someone else should enjoy them. 

Perfect opportunity to discover the magic of Quads, at the performance level well above stock design and at the price level well bellow. Easy to drive with either tube or high quality solid state amps. Near instantaneous turn on, so you can keep them off until the listening session, greatly extending panel life. Electrostatic Solutions mods make the panel voltage slightly lower, increasing panel life as well.

The speakers can be shipped, but the packing and shipping charges will be substantial ($300-350), so local pickup is strongly encouraged.  Paypal fees are included at the asking price.
