I bought this Will Vincent ST-70 rebuild to drive my Zu Soul Supremes.
I asked Will to make several modifications to his standard spec -- they are set to triode operation (less power than standard but sweeter); he substituted Golden Aero KT-66 output tubes for the standard EL34's (based on feedback from other Zu owners); and he connected the outputs to the transformers' 16-ohm tap rather than the typical 8-ohm. The triode 16 0hm operation could be reverted to the standard settings with a quick trip back to Will's workshop.
I played this amp for about 50 hours and it drove the Zu's beautifully. Then I sold the Zu's (audiophilia nervosa strikes again) and I put it on the shelf. It's in the exact condition as shipped by Will - with a beautiful powder-coated finish and all the other zesty upgrades he applies!
I think Will's ST-70 rebuilds are a great bargain to begin with. Here's a chance to buy a nice one at more than 40% off!
