I picked up this reel to reel that dates back to 1961 from the original owner a few months back - he was a gentleman who had been in the audio business in the 60's and 70's - this was in a rack in an audio closet at his house for the past 45 years. I took it to a electronics shop I have been going to for years and it is all working again! This deck was used in high end setups at houses, as well as radio stations back in the day. They are very consistent and easy to work on, as well as the tapeheads hold up to long hours w/o wearing like consumer tapeheads did. It supports both 3 3/4 and 7 1/2 IPS perfectly.
This is a player only, and as far as I can tell - fairly rare. It outputs a line-level signal via 3 tubes (Genalex gold lions). Here is a video of it working and playing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljq8ePBih2E
I am rating it a 6 - it has some scratches but nothing crazy. It is designed to be inset into a cabinet or pull out drawer.
I have the original owners manual as well as the service manual.
Thanks for looking!
