Up for sale is a pair of Thiel 03a speakers with original boxes, EQ, packing materials and literature. These speakers served as my main speakers while I was a poor graduate student. Cosmetically they are not in great shape but functionally work without issue. The mids and woofers were refoamed just prior to my purchase. The major cosmetic issues are the following:
The veneer is chipped in a number of places, most notably on the corners (see photos)
One grill has a spot where it has broken (again, see photos) but the grill still attaches fine to the speaker.
The base of one speaker has come unglued and the cardboard or particle board where the speaker terminal sits has broken. I have not attempted to re-glue this section. While I have confidence I could fix it, if someone wants to restore these speakers to a high level or wants to use https://www.coherentsourceservice.com/ (as was my original intention) then I do not want to mess this process up.
I haven't sold anything on Audiogon (have bought a small number of items over the years) but have a long positive track record on ebay (mostly buying but some selling) under the same user name. I will not ship these speakers. I am concerned they would not survive typical UPS/Fedex abuse so local pickup is the only option.
I am happy to answer any questions you may have. I also have additional pictures I can provide upon request. I'd love to see these go to a good home since they have the shipping boxes and EQ.
