The Linkwitz Labs ORION Speakers are indeed a marvel of audio engineering. Sigfried Linkwitz, a retired HP engineer whose hobby drove the development of open baffle designs and dipoles, designed them to provide immersion and holographic realism that other systems costing more cannot match. They are perfect for audiophiles seeking high-quality sound without breaking the bank.
These Linkwitz Labs ORIONs are version 3.3, active, open baffle dipole speakers. They are active speakers using a line-leveled and equalized Analog Signal Processor. Eight channels feed the pair of speakers, powering each driver independently.
Included:

  • Linkwitz ORION 3.3 Speakers (pair).
  • ATI AT6012 12 Channel Amplifier 60 watts RMS full-band with all 12 channels driven into 8 ohms loads.
  • Linkwitz ASP (bypass subsonic filters).
  • Blue Jeans Cable Belden 5000UE with locking banana clips.
  • Orion Construction Kit and ORION Test CD.
  • Three shipping containers with thick foam.
The amplifier is clean and non-fatiguing and effortlessly drives the ORIONs. Four spare channels are available to drive other speakers.

Choose to leave them as they are and enjoy some of the most open-sounding, transparent speaker systems in audio. Also, you can choose to tinker. There is still an active community on OPLUG with tried modifications. Swap out the amplifier, try different drivers, and download a MiniDSP map file to customize the sound even more to your liking. Also, check out GR Research YouTube on Linkwitz Orion. They are such a tremendous foundational speaker system for anyone who enjoys audio. Retail versions of this speaker sold for $15k.

Here's a breakdown of their drivers incorporated:
Qty (4) Seas Millenium Excel  tweeters - $304 ea
Qty (2) Seas Millenium Excel midranges - $316 ea
Qty (4) Peerless XLS woofers - $146 ea
Total driver cost - $2432

These speakers are part of audiophile history that you can attain for a bargain. They have a way of unraveling unparalleled complex music. You can audition them if you are near the San Francisco Airport. I can also ship them to you, but I warn you these speakers are heavy and will cost quite a bit, even for freight. I have enjoyed them for years, but now I no longer have the space or time to enjoy them. I want to pass them on to another audiophile to enjoy.
