Up for your consideration is a gorgeous Auricle amplifier from VAC (Valve Amplification company). This is the MK1 version and is a pretty rare model. I purchased the amplifier from Skyfi audio about a year ago. Their engineer upgraded the unit by adding mode selection switches, installing them into the factory holes in the back of the chassis to switch between Triode and Ultra-linear.
In addition, the Skyfi engineer bench tested the unit carefully and it passed with flying colors. All tubes were tested and all capacitors were inspected and tested for leakage. It was driven to its full power rating while monitoring distortion without issues. The tubes were tested on a calibrated BK747 tester and measured strong. They were put back on the unit where they biased accurately.
Condition is excellent. The paint is clean and consistent and there are no noticeable scratches with the exception of some minor paint chips where the cage meets base (see photos). Other than that, the unit looks great with no other scratches or abrasions. The gray paint and black lettering look shiny and classy. There are no dents or dings on any of the sheetmetal.
The amplifier sounds and looks lovely!
The manual states this unit can output 25W on triode mode and 50w on ultralinear mode. Apparently it is similar in design and function as the coveted Marantz 8B amplifier but with many modern improvements.
I don't have the original box; however, I will ensure that the unit will be well protected and will include a reprint of the owners manual.
Thank you for looking.
