Rarely Seen... I Purchased this stunning Italian Designed-German Engineered work of Art from the Original Owner which he did not use much during his ownership...
Component History...
Unison Research the well regarded Italian High-End Audio Manufacturer partnered with the equally regarded German Audio Company Clearaudio to produce "The Giro" Turntable...
This very well reviewed component is indeed not up for sale often in the audio world . I believe its one of a kind design and fit and finish will stand the test of time...
Cosmetically...
As New in all its Original Foam packing & box. It was set up and used for a few hours then packed up again as a NOS component as it were.
*Note: This Turntable was featured on the cover of HI-Fi choice in 2009 & was included in the list of Best 2009 products (Hi-Fi Choice Collection). The only turntable selected to this prestigious collection.
Operationally...
The Resonance optimized chassis construction using thick acrylic bonded to Unison's Trademark shaped & polished hardwood sections the latter made up of three massive Cherry Wood layers with different grain directions.
Giro's Carbon Fiber modified tonearm is very much like the Clearaudio Satisfy Tonearm. Along with the Unison designed beefed up motor using a built in synchro- generator that generates distortion free frequency & counterweight that uses a magnetic assembly to adjust force . The ability to change record speeds 45 & 33 rpm with the flick of a switch is indeed a convenience for sure. Significant engineering input on flexible isolation feet are very cool as well.
I tried it with my Sumiko Pearwood Celebration II Cartridge just to see for myself as per one Review who had the same setup this combination was on the slightly warm side of the tonal spectrum & beyond stunning !
Note: No cartridge included
