Magnepan 1.7i

Original owner selling pair of Magnepan 1.7i's, black finish. 

A great entry point into the incredible detail and soundstage of planar speakers.  I purchased them in September 2015 and have used them with a few different set-ups based on my living arrangements.  In a loft apartment I paired them with the Sanders Magtech power amp and the sound filled the 14ft ceilings. In my current small bungalow I have them paired with an Exposure 2020S integrated amp and the sound fills the house (too much - why I am selling).

While I have enjoyed every moment of listening, planar speakers of this size (5' 6" tall) are not for everyone to be sure.  To sound their best they do need some power.  Depending on room size, I believe minimum 50Wpc per channel and much better at 75Wpc or greater.  Also, speaker placement is very important - you need around three feet of spacing from rear the wall to really define the soundstage.  Those two criteria met, however, I believe these speakers offer incredible value versus floor standing and even other planar speakers at twice the price.  All of that said, anyone seriously considering Magnepan's will already know all of the above and probably a whole lot more!

Speakers are in excellent condition but rated 8/10 due to a couple of minor cosmetic scuff marks documented in photos for this listing.  The scuff marks, not actually visible unless you are within 18 inches, would be easy to repair but I prefer total transparency and will leave that minor buffing task to the buyer should they believe it to be important. 

All original documentation including owner's manual and (expired) warranty are available (see photos).  Original packaging also available (see photos) although may be advisable to add additional protective wrapping upon shipping which I would be happy to do at buyer's instruction.

Local pick-up is a welcome option should that be of interest to a potential buyer
