Jadis DA-88 signature

I am listing my beloved Jadis DA88S for sale.  The DA88S is widely considered one of the best integrated amplifiers every produced, and the MkII version (mine is v1), was named by The Absolute Sound as the 2015 Product of the Year.

The DA88S is musical, lush, engaging, and of course, visually stunning.  As you can see from the pictures, this unit is near-perfect, with a mirror finish on the top place and front plate.  Consistent with all Jadis gold front places, there is some minor discoloration which happens with age, which any Jadis dealer will independently confirm.

The Absolute Sound review in October, 2005, describes this amplifier accordingly (link below):  “The Jadis name is built on fantasy.  You listen to Jadis, you live the fantasy.  And the DA88S is the best exponent of that fantasy world you can imagine.  You can play absolutely anything through it and it sounds absolutely fantastic.”

I bought this unit directly from Pierre Gabriel Acoustics, Jadis’s North American dealer in Quebec, in 2007.  In 2011, a fuse malfunctioned and melted and key components were replaced by an authorized Jadis dealer.  Since 2011, the unit has operated flawlessly.  I am the sole owner since 2007.

As is clear in the pictures, the unit is nearly flawless, and could be rated 8/10.  I am conservatively rating it 7/10 for age only.

As this is the original version it takes 15 tubes:  eight KT88s, and two ECC83/12AX7, three ECC82/12AU7.  No tubes are included in the purchase, as shown.

I no longer have the original box, or the manual.  Having owned the product for 17 years, IMO there is no need for a manual.  You plug it in, switch on the On/Off switch, wait for 15 minutes for the tubes to warm up, and then flip the operating switch from “Standby” to “Operate.”  If you need a manual to do this, please do not buy this product.

Because of an injury I am unable to lift or pack the product, which is ~90 pounds.  Accordingly, the sale is pick-up only, in Manhattan, NY, USA.  Because of a prior bad experience on Audiogon, the sale can be consummated in two ways:  (a) cash transaction on pickup; or (b) wire transfer after agreed sale.  I will not consider other payment options.  Price is firm.  I do not sell a lot of products, but you can see my 100% rating on AG.  Good luck and I welcome your questions.
