Lovely and unmolested original AR amplifier with (rare) wood case. Amp works perfectly as is, although the electrolytic caps are past due for replacement. A kit ($160) with all new components and complete instructions is providing for performing the overhaul. A fairly simple job if you have any soldering experience, I have taken on too many projects and have to let this one go. Selling for less than I bought it, hard to find in this condition!

Is the kit included? You say the caps should be replaced, is there any performance issue with the current caps? kit is included. no performance issues that I am aware of. Quality wise I don't know what it sounded like originally so have nothing to compare to. I did not perform a comprehensive listening test. I was pleasantly surprised when I bought it that it appeared to work fine, but IMO caps should be replaced proactively due to age, pots deoxidized, etc. It is a very good candidate for restoration cosmetically and functionally. |
