A classic suspended turntable made to isolate the platter from substrate vibrations. The beautiful plinth is made of oak with a natural finish. The plinth has three adjustable feet that suspend allowing the heavy sub-chassis to hang with 4 stretched springs. The heavy damped platter has an upgraded zirconium bearing that works with a polished sapphire thrust plate to provide low friction rotation of the platter. The motor is adjustable by push button switch for 33 and 45 rpm and has a knob to fine tune the rotation speed individually for each setting. The motor is powered by a small outboard power supply with switch (included) The platter is belt driven (belt included). The dust cover (included) is hinged but removable. Various armboards are available from SOTA or online from other sources for a wide range of tonearms. The table will come with a standard wood armboard which I was told is for a sumiko arm, but I never used it.
This is a series III deluxe turntable serial number 30858. The suspension springs hold the bottom of the sub-base approximately 1/16”- 1/8” below the bottom of the plinth. The belt is about 5 years old but still works well. The bearing was upgraded 2 years ago and the table spins 5 or 6 revolutions after it was turned off. There are two cosmetic flaws with this turntable. The first flaw is the lower rear back corner of the dust cover has a stress crack. It had this crack when I purchased it 5 years ago but I have handled it with two hands and it does not seem to be spreading, otherwise it looks remarkably good for how old it likely is. The second flaw is a small dent right near the front of the armboard hole. This too was there when I purchased the table but I never did anything with it. I quickly forgot about it when listening to records!
The turntable will be carefully placed in the original SOTA box with plywood clamping system (very important) using instructions from SOTA for safe transport. This box will be within a second heavy duty box carefully packed.
