I have a set of very unique Fibonacci Technologies Ribbon Transducer speakers for sale. These were $15K new. They were the product of George Short of North Creek Music fame. Fibonacci Technologies was his last company before he closed the business and became full time Wisdom Audio's principal audio design engineer.

I sort of feel like I lost my mind. These speakers sound amazing and there won't be anymore coming along. But you know how in this hobby it comes time for a change and you have to let some things go. These have served my extremely well. I am down sizing in many ways. It is time to let them go as they have been in climate controlled storage for almost two years.

At 4.5k someone is going to get a really good speaker at a good price. Even though the cabinets are....ah....unique. But when they are in my living room no one actually ever made one comment about the veneer issue. It is very hard to give a rating. I would say between 5/10 and 6/10.

I was running these with the JL Audio F-112 subs. I used Dartzeel integrated and a Devialet 250 and various high end computer music servers. They have been treated well with good electronics...

An over used phrase..."They punch way above their weight!".

The voicing on these speakers is superb. I wish I had the golden ear wording to befit the speakers.....but alas, I don't.

Here is a link to the retired website of Fibonacci Technologies.

You can see the frequency response curve and the impedance curve.

That is actually my speaker in the picture.

Here is George's bio on Wisdom Audio's website:

George Short

Principal Audio Design Engineer

George began his career at Teledyne Acoustic Research in the late 1980's. He then joined Apogee Acoustics as a design engineer, developing hybrid line-source speaker systems incorporating proprietary ribbon drivers. George later founded Fibonacci Technologies and North Creek Music Systems, where he created the Fibonacci Ribbon Transducer and specialized in the manufacture and distribution of conventional and ribbon transducers, loudspeaker crossover components, assembled networks, and subwoofer amplification. George's broad experience in transducer and loudspeaker design, acoustic measurement and simulation, manufacturing, and project management will be key to successfully realizing Wisdom Audio's future product road map. With a passion for music, movies and high performance audio systems, George is a perfect addition to our Carson City based engineering and manufacturing team.

The speakers require a subwoofer as they only go down to 80hz. I have one JL Audio F112 left that I will sell with the speakers for 1100.00. The sub retailed for 3500.00 when new. It is in perfect condition. The price of 1100.00 is if you buy the sub with the speakers. Otherwise I will be selling it locally for 1500.00 like the other one I had.

I purchased this demo speaker from George in 2011. He used this set for demo as it has an issue with the veneer. It is sort of lumpy in various places on both speakers. It isn't really that offensive. It has not progressed in the years I have own the speakers.

You can see the imperfections in the pictures. It actually kind of gives it an organic look....really. George did finally move to a rectangle shape as I guess they had issues getting the curved cabinet to work. The curve is part of the original design for a specific reason regarding sound defection off of the cabinet.

I have spoken to George and he has told me that he has many replacement parts for the speakers so there is a backup plan is something fails. George says he has never had a failure so far.

There is not much on the internet regarding these speakers. I will link what is out there.

If you scroll down you will see the Fibonacci Technologies post by the reviewer of the audio show. The speakers in the picture are for a specific application but they are the same components as the Vayas.

The next one is from a DIY audio forum. Some of these guys are harsh and ignorant but the information finally gets sorted out by people that know what a great talent George Short is.

That is all I can find on the internet.

The speaker sound amazing. The sweet spot of these speakers is larger than you traditional ribbon. If I remember correctly the curve of the hand make ribbon is part of the reason behind for that. Each ribbon requires 40 man hours to compete by hand.

I will take 4.5k. The buyer will have to pay for shipping. Pay full price and I will eat the Paypal fee.

These come in wooden crates for shipping. I don't want to get these speakers out of the crates again for weighing. I will try to find the exact dimensions. I am only charging exactly what the shipping will cost.
