The Nova was Stereophile Budget Component of the Year and has received superb reviews everywhere. It is also a Golden Ear Absolute Product. The Decco2 is a 40 watt Nova with a few less inputs for 33% less.

The Peachtree Audio Decco2 is a very high quality 40 watts per channel hybrid remote controlled integrated amplifier that also has a superb DAC and wonderful headphone amp. It is the same, without the iPod doc, as the iDecco that just won Stereophile Budget Component of the Year in 2011

The Decco2 can also be used as a wonderful preamplifier/DAC with a separate power amp if you need more than 40 watts.

The preamp stage can be switched between tube and solid state right from the remote control.

The ESS Sabre DAC offers world class sonics from any of the digital inputs (coax, optical, USB) including one USB input to run right from the computer. There are also 2 analog inputs The headphone amp is not an afterthought and competes with separate HP amps that sell for $500.00 by themselves.

The Decco2 is a wonderful integrated amp but it can also be used as a Preamp/DAC in front of a higher power amplifier in a hi-end audio system if you need more than its internal 40 watt amp.

Preamp info: The preamp section employs a Class A tube buffer with a 30-ohm output impedance, so if 40 watts per channel isn't quite enough power, you can hook up a separate, more powerful amplifier. The preamp maintains a high level of detail while also taming harsh compressed digital music and allowing exceptional reproduction when listening to high resolution files. The Decco 2 has a USB input for your computer, 1 coax, and 1 optical input for other digital sources like Squeezebox, Apple TV or Airport Express, Sonos, and XM or Sirius tuners. It also has 2 analog inputs for a tape deck or phono preamp.

Digital to Analog converter: Maybe the most unique Decco2 feature is the onboard ESS 9006 Sabre DAC. It’s a 24/96k upsampling D/A converter, which transforms just about any digital source to the performance of a high-end CD player. The ESS Sabre DAC’s patented jitter reduction circuit re-clocks the digital signal to almost 0 jitter before passing it through a high-resolution 24/96k upsampling processor that’s also capable of 122dB s/n ratio. This is unheard of in any D/A converter at this price until now and out-specs most other DAC's on the market. But the DAC chip is only part of the story because the surrounding electronics are extremely important.

The DAC board is superbly done with 11 regulated power supplies. Each digital input stage is transformer-coupled so noise associated with ground problems and switching power supplies is eliminated. The USB connection is very unique. It is galvanically isolated from the computer connection. This is very important because significant noise generated by the computer’s switching power supply travels down the USB ground and manifests itself as a major source of jitter. It is eliminated before the DAC sees it.

It’s also a great way to add a personal computer or Mac Mini to your existing system.

For the headphone user, the Decco2 has a “Class A, tube” headphone section that rivals some of the best Headphone amps available today. When the headphones are plugged in, the speakers are muted so you can rock on when quiet is a necessity. Headphones have never sounded better than through the Decco2.
